Meet Our Dedicated Staff

Chris and his wife Jenny have been married for 30 years and reside in White County with their three sons - Bailey, Jacob, and Tyler. Graduating from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, Chris was licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1995. He began working in the funeral industry at a very early age under the mentoring of Ricky Barrett of Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland, GA. Chris served at Barrett Funeral Home until acquiring and operating Banister Funeral Home, now Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.
Having surrendered to God's call to preach at thirteen years of age he has served as a pastor at various churches since 1995 and currently serves as pastor of Chattahoochee Baptist Church in Cleveland. Chris feels a strong calling to minister to families both through the church and at their time of need.

Jeff is a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He and his wife Cindy have been married 25 years and have two children, Samuel and Mary Ann. The Underwoods are long time members at Yahoola Baptist Church. Jeff is also a member of Blue Mountain Lodge #38 F&AM.
A very active member of the community, Jeff has been an avid supporter of the school system as well as special needs camps. For many years Jeff has owned and operated Underwood Trucking in Dahlonega. In 2010 he was involved in the U. S. Capitol Christmas Tree Project. Jeff transported the tree from Wyoming cross-country to Washington, D.C. with a stop in Dahlonega. The tree was placed on the west lawn of the U. S. Capitol. In 2014 he spearheaded the relocation of an M-1 Army Tank for the Veterans of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County.
Jeff is very dedicated to the people of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County and feels a strong personal commitment to assist families in this area when they experience the inevitable loss of a loved one.

John Phillips and his wife are lifelong residents of Lumpkin County. His wife Janice Peck Phillips is a retired Lumpkin County Middle School teacher of 32 years. They have two sons, Brandon and Jordan Phillips, one daughter and son-in-law Maggie and Wesley Sisk and one granddaughter Aliyah Sisk.
John graduated from Lumpkin County High School in 1976 and is proud to be a “Nugget”. He attended North Georgia College and graduated from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service with honors in 1983. John has served in the funeral industry since age fifteen. He has served as a funeral director in Lumpkin County and the surrounding area for the majority of his career.
John considers it an honor to serve his neighbors and community and he feels privileged to work with Lumpkin County’s only locally owned and operated funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Cleveland, Georgia, Jordan is passionate about serving the people and families of North Georgia with compassion, dignity, and authenticity during some of life’s hardest moments. When he’s not at the funeral home, you’ll likely find him outdoors, whether he’s hunting, fishing, working on the family hobby farm. Jordan and his wife, Lindsey, live in the Leaf community with their children, Tate and MaryLou, where faith, family, and stewardship of the land are central to their lives. Jordan believes caring for families goes far beyond the walls of the funeral home and considers it a true calling to walk alongside people in times of grief, loss, and remembrance.

Rita Outz is a proud wife, mother, and “Ma” living in Murrayville, Georgia, with her husband, Tim Outz. She is the mother of two children, a daughter and a son, and the loving “Ma” of three grandchildren. Raised in Jackson County, Georgia, Rita has always valued family, community, and caring for others.
Rita has worked with Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home since 2017, with the exception of one special year she took away from work to care for her newborn grandson. She has always had a passion for helping others in any way she can and has a special heart for the elderly. Known for her caring nature and compassionate spirit, Rita strives to serve others with kindness, comfort, and respect.

Ashton proudly balances her professional career with being a devoted wife and mother. She is married to her husband, Seth, and together they are raising their four children: Sophia, Rosalie, Atlas, and Noa.
In the summer of 2025, Ashton and her family relocated to the beautiful community of Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, where they enjoy the peaceful mountain lifestyle and strong sense of community. Ashton is passionate about organization, efficiency, and helping operations run smoothly, bringing dedication and attention to detail to everything she does.
Above all, Ashton values faith, family, and creating a meaningful life centered around the people she loves most.

Lamar joined our staff in July 2017. A lifelong resident of Lumpkin County he retired after 43 years in the food service industry. Lamar and his wife Jannie are active members of Free Chapel Church in Gainesville. He feels blessed to be serving families in Dahlonega and surrounding areas as they face the loss of a loved one.

A native of Suches, Georgia, Stan retired from a career in public education that spanned 35 years. He and his wife Judy reside in Cleveland, Georgia. Stan and Judy enjoy 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. They attend Chattahoochee Baptist Church.
